Andrés Latapí Escalante

RI+DGE Philosophy and Anthropology Program Coordinator

Andres Latapi is an applied anthropologist with research experience in development areas such as fisheries, deserts, small enterprises culture, environmental planning, energy projects, sustainable development, and ethnic groups' health. He has worked for UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), formulating social impact assessments in the Large Marine Ecosystems project for the Gulf of Mexico. Andres was the executive coordinator of the Agenda 21 UNPD – Semarnat and second secretary for the environmental agenda at the Mexican Embassy in the USA. He is currently a Medical Anthropology professor at UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) and an Applied Anthropology professor at ENAH (Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia) in Mexico.
